Back to School Time!

Please excuse us as we invade the last little bit of your holiday serenity! 

Back to school Questions - 

Book Collection / Stationary - Teachers will have all students stationery and will be handing this out on the first day of term,  Wednesday 27th. If you wish to collect your child/s books this can be done early tommorow, Friday 22nd between the times of 10.30am - 12am from the Front Office. COVID considerations apply.

School Fees + Uniforms - School Fees will be going home via invoices to families next week along with permission and family information update documents that will need to be signed and reurned to the front office for processing. 

Uniforms are available from the front office - HAS Uniform Price List 2021.pdf please note that we now have sport shorts and dresses (examples in front office to try on) available in our uniform range. These will need to be pre-ordered, to do this parents need to download the following order form: Shorts Dress HAS Uniform Order Form 2021.pdf  Dont forget that School shirts are required clothing by direction of our Governing Council. 

Sunsmart - don't forget our students need to bring a hat with them to school and that these are compulsory all year long. In class students are able to get the SunSmart forecast for each day which is available via our school website on the Active Panel TVs which are now found in each classroom. At this stage of the year the SunSmart direction is for hats to be worn between 9.10am and 5.40pm as at these times the UV level is at 3 and above. 

Lunch Orders - A small canteen menu is available this year similar to last year pies, pasties, sausage rolls, chips and fruit boxes.  HAS Tuckshop School Menu 2021.pdf  We are unable to heat up any lunches for students, however parents can bring a hot lunch from home at lunchtime by dropping this off at the front office. 

Family update forms -  these documents will be sent home next week for permissions and any family contact updates phone numbers etc need to be returned to the front office for processing. 

Student Medication + Medical Management Plans -  please inform the front office if any changes to your child/s medication has happened or been recently recieved that we need to be aware of. 

Bus Timetable - there is a new bus route this year that will go out to just beyong Rawnsley Park. The timetable for this is being prepared and will be sent or emailed to all eligible families residing along the new route.

Cricket Pitch for the New Year!

Our new cricket pitch surface has gone in for the start of our New Year. The result of fundraising by our SRC the pitch went in this afternoon, the pitch surface was laid and glued, thanks to the efforts of Ben DuBois and Terry Morgan, with able support from Jimmy, Archie and Lilly. Our students will start their school year with a thick green matting to get plenty of practice in during their breaks and after school.

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Our Presentation night for tommorow night Tuesday December 8^th will be limited to 3 family members of our students at school.

RSVP of these family members attending are required now before the night. This being in line with our COVID Safe Plan there are some restrictions that we have put in place. 

To RSVP before attending call the school today 86 484 003 to register the 3 family members attending for COVID-19 seating requirments. 

RSVP to avoid disappointment on the night because if the 3 family members are not nominated or registered then attendance will be unavailable. 

The following are the restrictions in place -

In line with our COVID Safe Plan there are some restrictions that we have put in place to protect the health of those that attend and the community in general.

• On the night if you are unwell or have COVID-19 symptoms please do not attend.
• All families with students at our school will be limited to three family members attending.
• The school will have designated COVID Marshalls to support the running of the night.
• To avoid confusion on the night can families contact the school to provide the names of those attending, including any preschool aged children or below. Whilst this is not an official record it will assist us in knowing how big our family groups will be and who is in them.
• To support the required approved contact tracing system, when people arrive they will need to either:
• Use their smartphone to scan a QR Code as part of the check in process. This QR Code is unique to this school event and the COVID Safe plan that we have set up. To scan the code users will also need the mySA GOV app, to record their details.
• For people that do not have a mobile phone that supports this, they will need to sign in their attendance on the sheet provided, including name, phone number and email address.
• There will two QR Code checkins and one table for those signing in to avoid congestion and support physical spacing.
• Seating in the institute will be arranged in rows and spaces of 1.5m but also with groups of chairs to allow for family groups. Please do not move these around on the night as we need to support the physical spacing requirement.
• The wearing of facemasks is recommended (but not obligatory), seating will be spaced to 1.5m which meets the guidelines.
• We will arrange seating in family groups of three chairs where needed, this will allow families to sit together. Otherwise chairs will be spaced to ensure the 1.5m spacing requirement.
• Hand sanitiser will be available in the foyer and bathroom facilities can be accessed through the foyer area.
• Please follow the recommended hygiene practices that we have become familiar with over the last 6 months, posters will be available to support this.

Program on the night:

The night will start at 7pm when students need to arrive, with the program commencing at 7.30pm.

We are limiting the length of the program in line with COVID Safe guidelines. There will be no speeches. The program will be divided into the following activities:

1. Kindy performance
2. Kindy graduation
3. The Lion King production
4. Hawker Area School presentations.

Unfortunately there will be no shared supper.

Students and adults will need to bring their own water.

Last Day of the Year and Parent Access

With regards to the last week of the term and issues such as parent access I have looked into the guidelines at present from the department, which are shared below:

As the situation with COVID-19 evolves, the department continues planning and operating in line with advice from SA Health to support the safety and wellbeing of staff, students and the broader community.

Access to school and preschool grounds

Leaders should minimise parents, volunteers, and non-urgent service providers entering the site where possible. We encourage site leader discretion.

The following are considered essential and can continue to enter the grounds providing all details are recorded for contact tracing purposes:

• facilities management and building contractors
• pre-service teachers and TAFE students
• student support services (wellbeing and allied health professions)

In line with this I am happy for parents to come into the school grounds to drop off and pick up their kids, but this should be the limit for parent attendance.

Last Day - Splash Day

The SRC is planning a Splash Day on Wednesday December 9^th, which is the last day of the year for our students. This will run from after recess until 1.30pm, therefore including lunchtime. Apart from relaxing and having fun a variety of activities including races and teams activities are being planned, including music and a visit from Headspace.

From here students will return to school for end of year class and yard clean-ups, and a short assembly and Premiers Reading Challenge Awards before being dismissed for 2020. Finish to the last day will be at the normal time of 3.10pm.

Presentation Night

I can confirm that we will be having our Presentation Night at the Institute next Tuesday December 8th. The school has prepared a COVID Safe plan and within this each family with kids at school or kindy will be able to have three members attend.

More on the structure of the night and the COVID Safe procedures to be used will come out in messages soon.

Statewide Lockdown

18 Nov 2020

By now some parents would have heard the announcement concerning the Statewide Lockdown. As information comes through I will post these updates but at the moment the main message relevant to schools is:

• Thursday 19 November – school/preschool closure day. Corporate staff to work from home.
• Friday 20 November – school/preschool closure day. Corporate staff to work from home.
• Monday 23 November – pupil free day. Corporate staff work from home.
• Tuesday 24 November – pupil free day. Corporate staff work from home.

This means students will be at home and not mobile over these six days, including the weekend. Staff will also not be on site at the school for Thursday and Friday. 

At this stage we are organising students with their iPads or Laptops for this time, and work to go home as well, with some of this possibly organised through Teams. 

Todays school day will run as normal, with finish time at 3.10pm and the school bus running as normal.

As any official communications come out these will be forwarded through our Schoolzine communications.
